The KLISC/EIFL Open Access Advocacy Committee held their first campaign meeting at Rongo University on 15th May, 2017. The meeting was the start of a series of such advocacy campaigns slated to take place in five universities in Kenya with an aim of sensitizing top level management and Senate members on Open Access Policy formulation and implementation for increased visibility. The meeting was facilitated by Prof. Tom Kwanya from Technical University of Kenya and Ms. Penninah Musangi from Karatina University, while Ms. Esther Ing’aa from Multimedia University was the Administrator for the meeting. The meeting was graced by top level managers in the University led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Gudu who gave the opening remarks and the University’s Deputy Vice Chancellors who reiterated on the need for the university to implement its Open Access Policy to the optimum for individual and institutional visibility. The Committee appreciates Rongo University for taking a bold step in this direction of Open Access, special thanks to Mr. Joel Nakitare the Head Librarian for making this meeting possible and the support accorded to the committee members present.
